Our Program
At CMDN, we are committed to providing:
-
An accessible, affordable, high-quality care and early education program that is child-centered and based on their interests.
-
Care that is dedicated to the child’s social and emotional well-being as the foundation for healthy development.
-
An environment that encourages children to be active and creative learners.
-
A program that embraces the uniqueness of each child and strives to work with families to enhance the total development of the child.
CMDN is a quality early childhood education and care program that has achieved accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 1996. We are recognized by the Department of Health and Human Services as a Step Four “Program of Quality,” the highest level on Maine’s “Quality for ME” quality rating and improvement system. Parents receive a double state tax credit for their childcare expenses because the CMDN has achieved this level of best practice standards.
Starting in 2020, CMDN has partnered with Portland Public Schools (PPS) for a public pre-kindergarten partnership classroom serving four-year olds in the Reiche Elementary School neighborhood. CMDN provides wrap-around child care for up to 10 children. Enrollment goes through the lottery at PPS.
